New gas valve and service on a conventional flue gas AGA

A service on a gas AGA in Edgbaston, with a new gas valve, pilot assembly, thermocouple, gas cock and door ropes. All the pressures are correct and it's running safely.

Four photos of a cream gas AGA during a service, showing a manometer tube hooked on the front, the pressure reading by the burner door, the new gas valve labelled NAT GAS, and the flue pipe behind the hotplate

In Ian's words

I serviced a gas AGA in Edgbaston. The gas valve was letting by, so I replaced it and checked the pressure to make sure it was running correctly. The pilot wasn't lined up well enough either, so that got a new pilot assembly.

I also replaced the thermocouple with interrupter and the gas cock, and fitted new door ropes so the doors seal properly ready for the winter.

Then I checked the flue. With the flame lit, I tested the flame failure device and the burner pressure. The flame failure device works within tolerance, the pressures are all correct, and the AGA is running safely.
