Stop trying to relight it. A cooker that has gone cold usually has a problem with the fuel supply, a thermostat or a safety cut-out, and a registered engineer should look at any of those. If you can smell gas or oil, turn off the supply if it's safe to, then call. For a gas smell, ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first.

How often should an AGA be serviced?
Once a year for gas, LPG and oil, by an engineer registered for that fuel. Electric cookers have no burner, so they only need attention when something goes wrong.

Answers before you ring
Do I need a Gas Safe engineer for an AGA, or is OFTEC enough?
It depends on the fuel. By law, a gas or LPG AGA has to be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. For an oil AGA, use an OFTEC registered engineer. Ian holds both registrations. His Gas Safe engineer number is 6061489, the business is registered as 514574, and his OFTEC number is 11834.
Can an AGA be converted to electric?
Yes. Ian converts gas, oil and solid-fuel AGAs using the CE-approved Electrikit system, which comes with WiFi app control. Whether it suits your cooker depends on the model and your electrical supply, so he looks at it before giving you a price. More about electric conversion.
How long does an AGA service take?
Usually a couple of hours. It depends on the fuel and on the condition of the cooker.
