Converting your AGA to electric
Yes, gas, oil and solid-fuel AGAs can be converted to run on electricity. Ian fits the CE-approved Electrikit conversion, which adds WiFi app control. You can switch the ovens on or off from a touchscreen, a wall-mounted controller or your phone, even when you're away from home.

How does an electric conversion work?
Ian looks at the cooker first, then takes out the old burner and fits the electric kit in its place. The cooker stays where it is.

Ian checks the model, its condition and your electrical supply, then gives you a price for the job.
Old fuel disconnected
The burner and fuel supply are disconnected and made safe. Ian is Gas Safe and OFTEC registered, so he can do this for gas or oil.
Kit fitted
The Electrikit system and its controls go inside the existing cooker. Ian is NICEIC registered for the electrical work.
Set up and handover
Ian tests everything, connects the app and shows you how to use it before he leaves.

Can an AGA be converted to electric?

Does a converted AGA still need servicing?
It doesn't need the yearly burner service, because there is no burner. If a fault appears, the usual suspects are the elements, the thermostats and the control board.
Do I need a Gas Safe engineer for an AGA, or is OFTEC enough?
It depends on the fuel. By law, a gas or LPG AGA has to be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. For an oil AGA, use an OFTEC registered engineer. Ian holds both registrations. His Gas Safe engineer number is 6061489, the business is registered as 514574, and his OFTEC number is 11834.
